Administrative Cost Working Group

The Administrative Cost Working Group is focused on identifying ways to reduce administrative burden to address faculty concern that too much time is spent on administrative tasks rather than research. In addition, the Working Group continues to play a central role in the interpretation and implementation of OMB’s Uniform Guidance.

Initiatives

  • Identify federal policies that are burdensome; consider methods to mitigate administrative burden
  • Provide best practices regarding the implementation of the Uniform Guidance
  • Work with NIH representatives regarding the implementation of Single Institutional Research Board (sIRB) costing practices
  • Working with agency representatives regarding the implementation the 2013 Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) memo on public data access requirements and associated costing implications
  • Identify administrative costs that can be appropriately direct charged to sponsored projects
